Raquel L. Reyes is a graduate of Community Development at the University of the Philippines.  She started her career in development work as university extension associate in UP Diliman’s Ugnayan ng Pahinungód.  Since then, she has worked closely with people from the grassroots level as a community organizer in Laguna and as a livelihood specialist in Pangasinan.  In 1997, Raquel worked as program officer in a non-profit organization involved in pioneering microfinance training courses in the Philippines.


Since graduating from college, she has been doing research for various organizations and purposes.  Some of the researches she has conducted are the following: Intervention Program for Children at the Molave Youth Home, for the College of Education of the University of the Philippines, Assessment of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s SONA Accomplishments for the Asian Institute of Management, Study on Access to Productive Resources for the Promotion of the Informal Sector at the Metro Manila Local Government Unit Level for the International Labour Organization and United Nations Development Programme, and Impact Assessment of ABS-CBN Bayan Microfinance as a Corporate Social Responsibility Tool for Philippine Business for Social Progress.


Her valuable experiences on field were reinforced by the experience she gained especially from the Banker’s Association of the Philippines and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor. Since then, she has been involved in various capacity building services for institutions all over the country providing financial services to the poor.  Her love for development work has led her inquisitive mind to involvement in various research projects for different local and international development organizations.


At present, Raquel works for SEDPI as senior program officer extending training and mentoring assistance to the company’s partner organizations.  At the same time, she also works at the De La Salle University as NSTP-CWTS core group facilitator, where she is able to inculcate in La Sallians the value of social involvement.
