SEDPI trains 'I Am A Changemaker' Finalists

The ‘I am a Changemaker’ competition was recently held at the Leong Hall of Ateneo de Manila University. This is an initiative of the British Council to promote social entrepreneurship in the Philippines. It awards seed capital of PhP100,000 to social enterprise ideas. The competition was made possible through the collaboration of the British Council, Ateneo de Manila University, GO Negosyo, Starbucks and Social Enterprise Development Partnerships, Inc. (SEDPI). The ‘I am a Changemaker’ competition provided young social entrepreneurs with opportunity to mobilize people and resources to make wide-ranging social changes in their own community.

The winners were The Good Food Company, Isla Culion Souvenirs, Team 3G and ERSS. These teams come from the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao respectively. Team 3G is also the winner of the PhP100,000 Starbucks Prize.

SEDPI conducted a three-day Social Enterprise Planning and Development training to 17 shortlisted teams of the competition. The training gave the participants the opportunity to refine their proposals and finalize their presentations for the finals of the competition.  Even though the trainings were intense, taking up the full 3 days, they have been well received. One of the winning participants commented, “the training SEDPI gave truly captured Social Entrepreneurship, despite the short duration, they were able to provide relevant knowledge necessary to equip a budding social entrepreneur”.
