Desiree Muñoz obtained her bachelor’s degree in Community Development from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She joined SEDPI in 2007.


As part of the SEDPI team, Des delivers microfinance capacity-building trainings for cooperatives, non-government organizations, foundations, and rural banks all over the country.  She also conducts impact assessment researches and organizational appraisals of various microfinance institutions.  Des also played an important role on SEDPI researches on microinsurance, housing microfinance and microfinance methodologies in partnership with both international and local organizations. Together with the team, Des facilitates training courses on Fundamentals and Methodologies of Microfinance, Delinquency Management, Financial Analysis, and Product Development, offered by the Ateneo de Manila University’s Microfinance Capacity Building Program. 


Des’ exposure to the international microfinance scene includes a conference in Bali, Indonesia in May 2009, where she attended a training on Product Development.  She was also part of the team that conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) for Nigeria-based Microfinance Technical Service Providers in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria in Kaduna, Nigeria last November 2009.

She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management at the International Institute of Social Studies in Erasmus University, Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
