Training Events with PCFC

Through its linkage with PCFC, SEDPI organized 19 training events from July 2007 to August 2008 in six key Philippine cities: Manila, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Legazpi, and Butuan. A total of 157 MFIs, comprising 71% of the total PCFC conduits, attended at least one of these training events:

l Strengthening Internal Controls and Management Information Systems
l Strategic Credit Risk Management
l Product Design, Development, and Innovations on Delivery Schemes
l Introduction to Business Development Services
l Strategic Planning

Each program, on average, drew 26 participants, who used a rating scale of 1 (very poor) to 5 (excellent) to evaluate the events. On the average, training topics were rated 4.58, and the trainers got a score of 4.70.

PCFC was established by virtue of Memorandum Order 261 and Administrative Order No. 148. Republic Act 8425 of 1998, or the Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation Act, further strengthened PCFC’s role as the lead government entity specifically tasked to mobilize resources towards microfinance services for the exclusive use of the poor. PCFC is the largest wholesaler of microfinance loans, servicing more than 200 conduits with a total outstanding portfolio of almost PhP4 billion.
